It’s lovely to see you here. There are so many lovely Christmas romance novels around, and I keep meaning to write one – so, of course, I’ve gone and written a New Year romantic comedy instead… Yep – ‘New Year, New Hero’ is out now. It’s in ebook and in paperback although Amazon hasn’t got them linked on the same page just yet. Click here for my Amazon UK book page, And click here for my Amazon US book page. This book is about The Three Families and it is possible it could become the first in a series of them. Just in case it does there is a list of characters involved, and a seating plan of them at their New Year’s Day dinner in the front of the book just before Chapter One starts. Kate Benning and Tom Cole, both members of neighbourly households known locally as The Three Families, had always known they would marry each other. However, Tom was stifling her, and Kate was determined to free herself of these marital expectations before the New Year began. She dreamed of getting herself a new hero in the New Year. And a dog. She’d always wanted a dog. But nothing ever goes according to plan… All encouragement is gratefully accepted and if you’re on Twitter and wish to help spread the word, there’s a pinned Tweet for retweeting here (click here https://twitter.com/bordercollies). Actually, sharing...Read More

June 2015 Newsletter – Hounds Abroad Welcome to new subscribers! It’s lovely to see you here. I finally have a new novel out after being a bit ‘stuck’ for the last couple of years. It’s an urban fantasy and the first in a new series called ‘Hounds Abroad’. This is Book One: The Lost World People who’ve never read fantasy before have assured me that it still has my ‘voice’, humour, and touch of romance – and – probably more importantly – still has my dogs (in one form or another) cavorting around the pages. Click here for my Amazon UK book page, And click here for my Amazon US book page. This book is about Lily and Matt and some dogs: Lily’s life was dog-free and uneventful until one night when it became absolutely the reverse. That same night Matt Lannings was reluctantly drawn into the fantastical scenario that Lily’s life had become. The only thing was that Lily believed she’d been chosen to save another world in another universe – and Matt didn’t. Matt didn’t believe any of it! All encouragement is gratefully accepted and if you’re on Twitter and wish to help spread the word, there’s a pinned Tweet on my page (click here). Actually, sharing posts about my books or tweeting about them or writing (preferably nice) reviews, or just saying...Read More

12th October 2014 – Woofs of Wisdom is here! Woofs of Wisdom on Writing is now out in ebook and in paperback! Go here for ebook on UK Amazon Ebook on US Amazon Paperback on UK Amazon Paperback on US Amazon I can’t believe it’s October already! I do like the autumn – it’s probably my favourite time of year – but it did arrive far too quickly. Somehow the rest of the year has run off and taken my schedule with it… Woofs of Wisdom is a book of illustrated doggerel – or nonsense rhyme if you prefer that expression. I’m ok with nonsense rhyme but CorgiScribe – who dogtated the book to me – prefers it to be known as doggerel. He reckons it sounds more respectable… (Respectable!!! CorgiScribe!!! *snort!*) Here is a taster: Thinking time It’s essential to encourage your creative thinking with plenty of rest rather than unbridled drinking or trying to digest biscuits and cakes by the score, or smoking any kind of baccy – although it might give you ideas galore – it’s liable to make them pretty wacky. Yes, at every opportunity get some sleep on the divan. No matter how hard a chore it seems to be, get as much practice at it as you can – perseverance is key. So, it’s just commonsense that with every...Read More

Susan Alison paints pictures and writes stories for a living, and her cafetiere is always hot.
Dogs tend to enter into the pictures, and the prose, quite a lot, Susan living under the paw as she does.
Monty and Rosie (and Jeff-Dog now, too) are her Border Collies - they keep an eye on her artwork to make sure she keeps earning kibble, and every now and then they round it up and post it to her artwork blog.
Colouring books in A4 and pocket size are on their way. 'Corgis Rule!' is already out; the next one will be 'Carousing Cats'. There are more romantic comedies to come, and the third book in the urban fantasy series: 'Hounds Abroad'; also illustrated short stories, and doggerel, exist for your reading entertainment.
